Undergraduate Colloquium: Literature in Public Spaces

Description:
This one-credit course encourages students to examine the social life of literature in today's culture. Students explore literature as it is presented in public settings and critique that experience by writing reviews. The course presents students with a series of guest lectures, reading, film and dramatic presentations, workshops, and organized discussions.

Class Notes: Do you want to have an adventure on the sea? Would you like a break from the city and the opportunity to explore a beautiful island? Do you need a single course credit? If the answer is yes to any of these, sign up for a weekend at the UMass Boston Nantucket Field Station for an immersive engagement with a selection of ancient and modern poems and short texts about the sea, the shoreline, and especially, whales.
